Assembly Band Movement (ABM)

The Assembly Band Movement was first instituted in 1916 as “Watchers over Tens” and the name was changed in 1928 to what it is currently. The purpose of this Auxiliary is to assist the Pastor in taking care of the members.

Each member is assigned to a Band (Care Group) and Band Leader to help take care of their spiritual and physical wellbeing. Bands or Care Groups as they are commonly called meet regularly for prayer meetings and bible studies in the member’s homes.

Bible Training Institute (BTI)

Bible Training Institute was first instituted in 1941 as Bible Training Camp until it was renamed in 1968. The initial purpose of this Auxiliary was to train and qualify workers to take care of new churches, enter new evangelistic fields,  supply missionaries and fill vacancies in all the departmental work of the church.

Today Bible Training Institute organise training for all members of the church to enhance our knowledge of the bible and to train us to be effective workers in The Church of God.

The main areas of study are: The Bible, Doctrine, Church Business, Auxiliaries and Pastoral studies.  There are also more advanced courses for those that have already graduated

Camping Ministry

Camping is another Ministry that has proved to be very beneficial in The Church of God. It allows groups to go away usually to a rural setting away from the hustle and bustle of the everyday life to worship, fellowship and to learn more about God.

Previously we had Junior and Senior Camps which have now been combined into a single Family Camp that caters for all ages. This is an annual event lasting up to a week and comprises: Outdoor activities, workshops, Devotions and times of worship.

Choir Ministry

We believe that singing is a ministry and we are encouraged in various scriptures of the bible including Psalms 100:1 to: “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD…” Apart from local church choirs, we have a National Choir comprised of members from all the local churches. This choir sings at our national events and also operates as an outreach tool ministering to the community at various events.

Church of Prophecy Marker Association (CPMA)

The Church of Prophecy Marker Association was instituted in 1941. The purpose of this Auxiliary is to locate, mark, beautify and maintain prominent places in the world in connection with the church of God of the bible.

Funds raised by this Auxiliary helps to maintain various markers throughout the world including Golgotha and Mount Hattin in Israel. This Auxiliary also helps to maintain our international Offices in Cleveland, Tennessee, USA.

Evangelism Department

The Evangelism Department was instituted in 1970 after it was felt that something more needed to be   done to boost our evangelistic work. As the Church we were commissioned by Jesus when He said, “go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” The purpose of this department is to initiate evangelistic programmes/meetings to spread the gospel and win the lost to Christ and His Church. Many local churches have licensed Evangelists and Evangelism Teams which go out and participate in door to door witnessing, street meetings and conduct Evangelistic Crusades etc.

Men's Retreat

As the name implies this is an event for the men of the church and for their male friends and family and is held annually.  Like Ladies Retreat it is normally held over three days (Friday – Sunday). This event is a mixture of worship, discussion groups and presentations geared around issues that relate to and affect men interspersed with various sporting activities.

Sunday School

The Sunday School was instituted in 1906 and the purpose is to:

  • Teach the word of God.
  • To win souls.
  • To build the Church.
  • To help the community.

Each church has Sunday School classes on a Sunday which caters for all ages, a term commonly used: “from the cradle to the grave.”

Victory Leaders Band (VLB)

The Victory Leaders Band (Youth Department) was first instituted in 1928. The purpose of this Auxiliary is to:

  • Train young people for Christian service.
  • To prepare young people for the coming of the Lord.
  • To bring nourishment to the church and through their efforts bring new members into the church.
  • To be an example of the church among other young people and older people as well.
  • To raise funds for printing the gospel.

This Auxiliary has an annual National Youth Convention. This is a one day event organized and moderated by the National Youth Director where the emphasis is more on formal worship   including various sermons, choirs, presentations and times of congregational worship.

Women's Missionary Band (WMB)

The Women’s Missionary Band was first instituted in 1928.  The purpose of this Auxiliary is to stimulate and solicit missionary funds, clothing etc. for home and foreign missions. Each year there are two major missionary drives in March and October to solicit funds for the Mission Department to send workers to different parts of the world.

Ladies Retreat is a department within the Women’s Missionary Band Auxiliary. As the name implies this is an annual event for the women of the church and their female family/friends. Our Ladies Retreat is normally held over three days (Friday – Sunday). This event is a mixture of worship, discussion groups and presentations geared around issues that relate to and affect women.
